Aegean The Aegean has had a history which has come into western culture as being so convoluted, edited, politically spun, etc. that previous to Greec most of what occurred has been relegated to the form of mythology. Because the layers of editing are so pronounced it is almost impossible to decrypt what actually occurred. But when you start to peal back the layers of each additional conquest; most if not all the primary concepts revolving around what truly occurred in the Aegean are not only understandable but come into stark realization. One of the most difficult to understand why xerxies and his army have only been one in a large sequence of invasions from said type culture. Several stories within mythology itself are stories of invaders from the east; conquering, editing, and removing as much of the previous cultures identity as they possibly could. Previous to 1600 b.c.e; the Aegean was under almost continuous battle from the Hyksos. The Hyksos started to invade as a cultural phenomenon circa previous to 2100 b.c.e fortunately the cultures of the northern portion of the middle east, turkey, and the Aegean were unbeatable. However after the Thera volcano; all dynamics shifted. The eruption was so violent and disruptive entire armies and cultures were erased. A major possibly million person population city at the base of Thera was erased in a few hours or less by the eruption. That population for the most part had already evacuated to Italy, Northumberland, Germany, etc. so it was only the city itself which suffered the catastrophic entirely being removed from the face of the earth. Which does in ways point to the facts regarding portions of Socrates story regarding Atlantis does exist within that city on the shores of Thera.
