Amy Sickle RE Code of Conduct Findings 2020 3 6 March 6, 2020 T. Robert Welling/A00991352 Delivered via email trobert.welling@waldenu.edu RE: Code of Conduct Findings Dear Mr. Welling, This letter is in follow-up to the professional conduct
inquiry letter I sent to you on February 26th, 2020 regarding an
unprofessional discussion board post and email to your instructor. I have
reviewed your response. Specifically, in your Week 1 discussion post for PSYC
8202 Survey Research Methods, you wrote: …It is obvious the bastard Jew did the calculations Your instructor then removed that post at Program Director
direction and you then responded to the instructor via email: From: T Robert Welling <trwelling@yahoo.com> Sent:
Wednesday, February 26, 2020 0:08 To: Are you and I going to have a problem in this class?....you
pointed out grammar, spelling, and APA formatting issues. Exactly what are
you looking for?....If you have a list of acceptable parameters, that list
exists in your head. I am not good at all at guessing. TR In your responses, you made it known that you are “on the
spectrum” and thus you do not mean any offense but that social rules and
clues are a mystery to you. You also responded that you believe that it is
historical fact that the individual in question’s parents were not married.
You also indicated that you believed it a logical assumption that he was
Jewish based on several events in his life. Please understand that all Walden students, regardless of
disability status, are responsible to abide by Walden’s Code of Conduct and
Student Handbook. If you feel your disability impacts your ability to meet
and/or interpret conduct code expectations and that an accommodation may
help, please contact Disability Services to consider potential
accommodations. You will continue to be held to conduct expectations with or
without an accommodation. Based on my review of the information provided to me,
including your response, I find that your comments are in violation of
Walden’s Professional Conduct section of the Code of Conduct. As was noted
before, our Code of Conduct Policy states: As part of its commitment to
integrity and respect in the community in which it operates, Walden
University expects that its students will conduct themselves in a
professional and respectful manner at all times, both when interacting within
the university community and when representing the university at events
outside the institution. In that regard, students will not at any time engage
in unduly disruptive, threatening, unethical, disrespectful, or abusive
conduct toward other members of the university community, including fellow
students, instructors, and staff. Thus, you are subject to the following sanction: 1) Reflection Paper Requirement. Write an 8-page
paper on the impact of diversity as a student and its relevance to the
profession, identifying five rules for how to engage around difference in
appropriate ways, and the potential consequences of failing to work to
create a safe and inclusive environment. Please review and adhere to the
American Psychological Association’s Code of Ethics and Conduct in writing
this paper; see: https://www.apa.org/ethics/code This paper needs to be
submitted electronically no later than April 6, 2020 to the School of
Psychology’s Student Development Coordinator,. Failure to meet this deadline
may result in a registration hold for the 2020 Summer Term. This letter constitutes a letter of warning, and we expect that you will
fulfill the requirements set forth above. Any further violations of Walden’s
Code of Conduct policies and procedures will result in more serious
consequences, which may include dismissal from the university. This process is in accordance with the policies contained
in the Student Conduct and Responsibilities section of the Walden University
Handbook (Select Student Handbook from the dropdown box) with which you were
provided when you enrolled in your educational program at Walden University
and that you were asked to review. You have the right to appeal this decision to the Associate
Dean of the School of Psychology. You may submit a written appeal, via email,
including all supporting materials, within 10 business days of this
letter. Your appeal should be sent to x within 10 days, by March 20th,
2020. Please note that the decision of the Dean in cases of student conduct is
final. It is our goal to help you succeed as a scholar at Walden
University. We anticipate that you will treat this matter with all
seriousness. Sincerely, Program Director, Ph.D. Psychology Program Walden University , Student Development Coordinator, School of
Psychology |
