The City of Heliopolis has a history which literally dates to several hundred if not millennia before the invention of writing. Or at least from Hieroglyphics and Sumerian writing. Vinča, Indus-Harrappa, Linear A, Indo-European, etc. languages were not only invented but had been operating successfully for several thousand years before Hieroglyphics and Sumerian were invented in the middle to end of 3000 b.c.e.

 

There are a thousand cites which have founding dates well before the 3500 year mark. Athens, Heliopolis, Memphis/Luz (Genesis 28), Thebes, Heirakonopolis,

 

Cities which at various times have been the capital for a variety of Empires/Kingdoms, etc.  For instance Paris has been the host of at least three major countries; Parissi, Merovingian, and the Franks. Old name Poseidon was a thriving city of a huge population for close to 3000 years before the Hyksos conquered the city and changed its name. Meritaten daughter of Amenhotep iv aka Akhenaten and Pharaoh in her own Rite her army and son recaptured Poseidon and renamed the city to honor the deity of her father ATEN. Add an H and ‘s to ATEN, after the T and after the n you have Athens. The place were the Trojan War started.

Troy is a city itelf with an ancient  history.
