week 1 dq to the teacher

for me one of the things about academics which performs an Irish jig on my last nerve is the “I am easy and real simple to deal with”. I have heard that sentence from dozens and dozens of teachers and follow students who think they are absolutely the lowest maintenance people around, but in reality, they have parameters some of which were so unbelievably strict they were offended by a comma out of place.

Hence my complete annoyance with the “post blind” from only a 2 sentence question. Every other assignment in college has come with between half a page to several pages of explanation and detailed outline. This class I get 2 sentences. In more complex questions, I depend on reading others posts not for the information but for the formatting. I have my own ideas on most subjects, so copying someone elses work is not my thing. I also have huge issues not bringing up history every other sentence. Almost no one has a similar history database of memorized data I have.

In one of my previous grad schools I pulled away from psychology and tried history. That was a smashing failure in all aspects. The first teacher I lasted 10 days, the second I lasted 3 hours, the third teacher I lasted 12 days, till the first major paper came up and in an hour long mostly not soft and quiet voices I was told 5 separate times I had to plagiarize my paper or receive an F. Seriously.

The teachers response when I walked through “that is plagiarism” the comments were “My class, I decide what is plagiarism”. My answer “sorry academics decides what is plagiarism, and that is plagiarism”. I was not allowed to include a single word of “put this in your own words”. I dropped the class and of course the school.

For this class, research methodology for me it is all about trying to determine how to best go about actually performing research.

research for me has proved to be a life calling. However, the reception of said research is where I run into not the problems of the facts and evidence but the reception of said.
