There is so much wrong with this paper in both writing and apa formatting it should not be graded. Unless that is exactly what the student needs, is to have exact correction for correction pointed out. If that is how the student needs to see mistake a, b, c, etc. pointed out than do some of that. But in truth, for gradschool level writing, if the student has a chance of succeeding this paper needs to be tossed out (start again). But some students need a see more red than black on a paper to see the mistakes.

However sine this is a 100 point paper, this student has already received at least 2 if not 3 grades previous since 100 point papers are not assigned in week one. Doubtful they are week 2/3. This is more like week 6 to 10. If the student is still making these mistakes in week 6 to 10 (Wikipedia) no need to grade the paper with a fine toothed comb, give the student an F with associated attachment papers APA formatted paper, and an example of a ppwer to simply.

But without knowing the progress of the student, without knowing how many assignemts prviuos to this one. Hwo many classes past the gradschool 1001 class this class is. with those missing parameters this paper is impossible to grade.

This is not about how close to the syllabus, insce that mark was missed by a mile. This point is to take extremely bad paper and find out from the student exadtly what they need from the teacher how to improve.

However most of the rest of the formatting is either wrong or is semi correct  but used wrong.

Again for PhD level work this is a give it back with a template to the student to try again with a 20% deduction.  With instructions to simply use the provided by me template, so at least the headers are correct. Then send a separate document regarding exactly how the current APA formatting is, there are about 10 free and easily to download examples on line. Standard has one, apa has one, etc. Send the student one of those. Make with a note, make your paper formatting wise look like this.

as for the body of the text itself, wow that is some really bad writing. No hwere close to gradschool level.

No intro, the abstract is a few wrods minus the 250 it is supposed to be.

Hand the assignment back to the student with a “try again” with the 3 document attachments. Make your paper look like these. The abstract is supposed to be the general ideas of the paper itself, a 2000 words paper, all the key points laid out in 250 words.

academics is not about a resuscitation of the ideas found in various papers, books, resources. Academics is about creating an understanding, a framework of thinking in your head as to what the information is.

To that information, who you are, and how the world is to create a foundation of understanding between you, the information, and the world around you. It is not about just reciting the resources you are assigned to read, it is about being able to discern what the information is and how to apply that knowledge to the world around you to benefit all involved.

In parochial school, it is a normal thing to be caught up in the “giving a book report”. Example the titanic sank on x day with a y size gash in its side, where it hit the iceberg. For parochial level education that is fine. However, in college and grad school, that information minus the dates and some of the physics is wrong. You as a future academic, have to know the difference between a propaganda headline which has zero basis in actual scientific reality and the facts. Your job is not to repeat information just because the culture believes those pieces of information to be correct.
