The fields of Medicine and Psychology used to be one and the same, however during the Dorian Dark Age 1500 -800 bce, although arguments can be made regarding those time frame parameters,  the fields were ripped apart, but from the 1700s to present the fields have slowly been remerging, most notably psychologists are allowed to write prescriptions in some states, and of course the field of psychiatry. However they are not merging well.

A field which used to start with the mind then worked out to the body, Those strengths are being put back.

weaknesses are that the remerging of the mind and body sciences is not progressing correctly. It is not merging well, that needs to be directly addressed.

The more the fields merge the better everyone’s research will improve. You cannot ignore vast amounts of data and expect the =x to be anything other than a not very good best guess. The fields need to focus on how to merge correctly.
