week 2 dq 1 post

My post to carlos was very difficult for me to write. I struggled with it, not because the issue is that complex, but because of the others in the class whom he offended/cyber intimately assaulted (Haney, 2004). I guarantee, reading the post offended me and I am not that puritan.

My thinking on the subject comes back to the one key ethical issue which is almost universally forgotten which said legal case is one of the primary cases from which the American legal system is based from, which is where the rules for ethics came from (Stavredes, T. (2011). Exactly what is admittable evidence and what is not. In the case of the people versus John Proctor, the fact that he was 50 years old were not an issue. The fact that at least one of his victims was 8 years old when the events began is also not important to most any of the associated discussions. John Adams and Rutledge argued for years over this case and of course the implacations of the legalities of those trails. The points regarding he was a pedophile from 1685 to present have almost universal not been part of the discussion. Despite the facts that both birth dates are clearly in evidence. But few if any have paid attention to the fact that the events took place between her age 8-11. She turned 12 as her part of the trails were ending.

Carlos has similar issues, he is clearly going into a manic stage were his actions are way outside the boundaries of acceptable behavior. But he has also based on the Salem events, in a written format assaulted the more puritan class members. Since I have no license and even if I did, he is not my patient. So according to hippa he is seriously not my issue. Not my circus not my out of control  animal group (the real phrase brings up very inappropriate applications regarding interchangeability between real small primates primitive behavior patterns causing problems, and bipedal individuals who were also refereed to as said small primate type species. Which in this day and age is a hate crime. I love history and wanted to point out those two issues since they absolutely apply to this situation. Why use the name carlos, it brings up very interesting profile concepts regarding Latino males. Which can be perceived as extremely unethical.). The main issue is making the classroom safe again for the other students. Since they have already been violated. How can they be reassured that his actions will not be repeated and they will not have to be in effect cyber intimacy assaulted again.

I used the MPAA visional concept of the rating system of G in order to give him a pictorial application of what a good boundary is versus a bad one. since in an altered state, manic people usually do not have an ability to process written words and have less of an idea how to process legal ease. But picture explanations might sink in. but I would also immediately report his conduct to the head of the dept and of course the admin. If he needs to be removed from the classroom, that is legal and of course the administrations job. Having been in a position where I have been removed from several online classrooms for questioning the authority of the teacher, that is how they handle it. The administration takes over and does the legal stuff. I did not say a single outside of the G rating system aspect, I used the scientific method correctly and the teachers strongly objected to real science being used in their fiction classrooms. They wanted to teach a theory/ies which had been disproved as incorrect decades previous and I pointed that out. They did not react well to as example “sorry but a geocentric mathematical model is pure fiction, it has no basis in reality. It is wrong.” Teachers do not react well to said reaction from students. They wanted to teach geocentric math models, as if they were reality, I objected. I was asked to leave.

For Carlos, his actions he will either pay attention to the G rating system or he will be removed by the administration. what ethical issues he might or might not break have little to do with the legalities involved. When the lawyers get involved, they will use whatever legal rules they think will work. The concern of the teacher is to make the environment of the class safe again for the rest of the students.

According to the American Psychological Association (2010) Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct, Principle B: Fidelity andResponsibility; establish relationships based on trust, uphold professional standards by setting boundaries with others, and to take responsibility for theiractions.  According to APA (2010) Section 3.05, Multiple Relationships occur when the psychologist engages in more than one relationship with a person.
