week 2 dq 1 reply Nancy Lyle

We need to remember that we have no license, so saying anything to any student at all about oversharing needs to be as clear as humanly possible. In the letter example it is clear he is in the manic aspect of his situation, which by default means clarity is not part of their thinking patterns. Again we have no license, and even if we as the teacher of his class have a license any type of a cyber diagnosis and addressing anything of the sort in the class or privately is against more than a couple hippa reglations.

I would contact the head of the department and the school to let them know, there is a student with a possible serial habit of inappropriate behavior bordering on illegal. In my life, I am 48 I have lenared that people who are “off” using the modern termonlogy tend to say exactly what is happening. This letter can be seen as a “Help me, Help me, Help me” I am about to go manic, I need help. Off people one of the first things which occurs is their filters disappear, which means they will openly tell what they are and what they are about to do. but in western cultures we have been taught to ignore the “hyperboly” form people example “I am going to kill him/her/them/you”. it is an expression of upsetness and frustration. But only a very very small percentage of the time is their any real emotion behind the “threat”. However when peoples filters begin to evaporate, they say something and usually follow through on it. The letter from him “fictionally” indicates at least three aspects of intentions to commit and or perform inappropriate actions. He even describes in some detail a previous “made perfect sense at the time”. The three sentence aspects used apply the concept of “I am about to go manic again”. Which word structure evidence for is in the last sentence. We are not licensed for this patient, we do not have any legal standing to do or say a single thing to this person. We are in charge of this class, we as the fictional teacher of this class. One person, but a group assignment we, but you. So legally the only thing we can do is to alert the admin of a possible issue and let them handle it, legally. Watch for future inappropriate comments and or actions, just let the admin know and try to be entirely clear with the student to stay within the boundaries of G rated. G rated is a very clear way to cut through the haze of a manic stage.

Please stay respectiful means nothing to someone in a manic stage. Follow x y z rules also will likely not get the idea across. G rated gets the idea across.
