week 5 response to Madyson Wier

your points are well made. However no criticism, but an additional comment. In some subjects it is virtually impossible to bring up some subjects. The passions are simply too deep and intense.

I remember watching the movie “Norma Rae” a couple times over my life. As a child I did not understand it. As a middle 20s I understood it more, but not till my mid 40s did I grasp what was happening.

The point which is most appropriate to this class is the depth of passions and how some people simply cannot function outside of the normal they have crated and their society have accepted. The father of her second child was a prominent member of the community who in effect treated Norma as his on the extreme DL occasional with benefits person. Most of the community knew the events were happening but Norma was considered an upper low class person and he was a lower upper class member of the community. So during the whole thing, they met up at a community event. He treated her ok, but simply as an aquiantance. She got upset and said “you know your daguther could use some support” or something like that. He was upset at her embarrassing him in front of his community. His passions regarding his standing were too high for him to function and be a nice upstanding man when push came to shove. He considered himself a good man and honorable, but had not spent a penny on his kid, and refused flat out to ackenogle she was his. His passions had very hard boundaries. In a classroom, he would likely refuse to accepted inforaito which he for some reason could not deal with. He would be not only disruptive but he would pull any string he could to make the information from that class ro that teacher not be party of his life.

Disruptive students instead of just being attention seekers, they might be trying to distract attention away from the sbujct at hand.

I was in a classroom where the teacher in a private chat over a 45 minute call,  could not stop describing and redescribing how much that teacher hated the classes taken. The teacher describe 3 sperate occurrences hwere tat persons teacher as a student strayed off topic, into areas as a student the person could not understand why they were off topic. Swearing to that person in their head “when I am teaching, I will never let a single sentence in my classrooms stray from the topic. I hate this, the teacher and those (very inaprporpite comments later) other stduetns keep straying off topic. What they are taling  about makes no sense to me, can we simply stay on topic.”

for that class, this entire post would be considered wrong and I needed to rewrite it to stay on exact letter for letter topic. That teacher hated even a letter off topic, whatever the topic was in that persons mind was accepteable and anything not in the paratmers in that teachers mind needed to be punished with harshness.

Teachers have a very difficult position to unhold.
