Geocentric The only
thing wrong with the geocentric social base is how impressively self centered
the concept it. In our modern
culture geocentric means earth based. But that does not reflect on the words
used, what the words mean, or the culture who created the geocentric concept in
the first place Geo to the Greeks
was not the land but the body politic of the city itself. Since each city was
its own state. Saying geocentric depended entirely on the city-state in which
you were discussing. A Athenian geocentric map as Athens at the center. Same holds
true for Sparta. Only after
the country had a more modern and collected body politic did geocentric take
on the definition of Greece the land as the center. When Rome took
over Greece, it became geocentric “all roads lead to Rome”. Since it was
the Greeks who named Europe. So as the borders of Europe expanded so did the cosnet
of geocentric. But the main
issue is, geocentric is at base an extremely selfish concept which only shows
up the strongest when a geo (self) centered person does actions they think
are acceptable but they hurt, abuse, or worse to the world around them. |
