Ogle Family American Trade Route Tiffin Ohio

“The Maples Tiffin Ohio”

By real-estate evidence; the property the Maples used to sit on was sold to the Ogle Family circa 1810. However thanks to a disagreement between the 100 year established city of Tiffin as a French Colony and the transition (thanks to the Louisina and New France purchase) the previuos 100 years was mostly erased.

My family legend the city of tiffin was a byproduct of the Ogle Family American Trade Route which was in part created by Joseph Ogle on his trek between NewCastle (his birth city) and St Louis.

Joseph left at least one of his sons behind in Tiffin to found and place and to established a homestead. That Homestead was located on the west side of the city at the corner of 18th Now Market and 224. That homestead was still in operation as of 1978. When Helen (Ogle) Shaffer destroyed the land and the estate.

The Ogle Family previous to being in America were in Northumberland. In Northumberland the Ogle’s worked a very long standing more than 1600 year trade route with most of the European cities.

Courtesy of that trade route; the Ogles were able to invide settlers from most of the countries they had a trade route agreement with. Specifically Germany, Norway, France, etc.. which accounts for why the entire area has huge populations of said types of setters arriving 700 miles inland in the late 1600s and 1700s..

The corner of 18th aka Market Street and 224.

The Maples was across the street from the Hospital

A bit closer to the location of where the Maples used to be.

Evidence will be underground. The entire house was bulldozed into its own full basement.

By guess as to where the Maples used to be.

I took a picture from google earth yesterday and merged an areal picture of the Maples circa 1942 and combined them together, using as close to a statistical anaylsys as I could.

I closer image of the same layout. The angle of the road to the bottom right looks like it is at least a similar angle as it was 60 years ago.

The Original Ogle Settlement was 2525 market street. Which is across the street to the north of Market/18th street.
