In the 1500s; the Ogle family figured out quickly that since they had ships and 1600 (John (of Eglingham) Ogle, Capt.) year agreements with the nations of Europe, they would request setters from the countries they had agreements with.

 

They would then sail their ships to specific ports of call.

Pick up settlers

Ship the settlers over using the yet to be labeled “trade current”

Dock in a city which was founded by and Ogle. Boston{Beacon hill named after the family name}, NewCastle{A major city in Northumberland}, (for a time) New York {Named for a major city in Northumberland}, etc

Then the Ogle surveyed lands the settlers would choose which area they wanted to homestead.

 

As the settlers worked; they would produce crops.

 

Those crops would after a time produce harvest.

The ogles would purchase the crops from the farmer/settler

Ship on their fleet back to Europe.

Where this ships would pick up new settlers; repeat

 

It took from the early 1500s to the middle of the 1700s before others figured out what the Ogles were doing.
