Mayan Calendar

The calendar works on the premise of several interweaving cycles conjunction at one point.

One being a cycle of 5,002 years.

A Long count 52 year cycles.   The 52-year cycle based on a moons cycle tracking thought a 52-year pattern.

A 360 day with 5 days added

And the short count which is a 13-day month and 260-day count for the 20 months.

Days, tracked with two oscillating wheels one with thirteen slots/ one though 13 with a two day cycle

((  Dec. 23 2012 ))

1750 years ago

The karma

250 ad

These cycles are calculated by counting on disk with the days

one of 260 days representing the intermeshing of a sequence of numbers 1 - 13  with 20 named days among the Maya the 260 day count (sometimes called by the Ersatz term tzolkin) began with 1 Imax following 2 Ink 3 Akbal, 4 Kan, until 13 had been reached the day following was IX with the coefficient 1 again leading to 2 men and so on the last day being 13 ahau repeating again commencing with 1 Imax

beginning with 1 imax follow 2 ik 3 akbal 4 kan,   until 13 benthe day following is ix with the coefficient 1 again.

Months of the year

Pop, Uo Zip, Zotz, Tzec, Xuc Yaxkin, Mol, Chen, Yax, Zac, Cen, Mac, Kankin, Muann, Pax, Kayab, Vumku,    Uayeb.  Symbols for the months in the 360 day cycle.

The 260 count is vaguely our 365, but the 1/4 extra

20 kins    1 uinal or 20  days

18 unils    1 tun or 360 days

20 tuns    1 katun or 7,200 days

20 katuns   baktun or 144,000 days

The calendars are as I have stated in counts which I understand it to be a not a count but actually great ages to the world we life in and the last great count started August 13, 3114 bc

Or in Mayan as

9,10,19,5,11 10 chuan 4 cumbu   ( Would be alculated as )

9 buktun 1,296,000 days

10 katuns 72,000 days

19 tuns 6,840 days

5 uinals 100 days

11 ksins  11 days

Or

The Mayan calendar matches the cycles of the universe in its counting concepts it counts ands accommodates for the time weaving and the  quarter of a day our calendar makes up for every 4 years with adding a day.
